Effective 3 October 2026
VoyJoy is a travel app for planning trips and hangouts, sharing them with friends, and booking experiences with local guides. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who else sees it.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your content to train AI models.
With your permission, VoyJoy uses your location while the app is open to show nearby places and experiences.
If you choose to share live location with a hangout, it is shared only with the people in that hangout, only while the app is in the foreground, and it stops when you close the app or turn sharing off. VoyJoy does not track your location in the background.
If you use Invite Friends and grant contacts permission, your contacts are read on your device to show a list you can pick from. They are never uploaded to our servers, never stored by us, and never shared. Choosing someone simply opens your own Messages app with a prefilled invitation.
These are used only when you take or choose media for something you are creating — a post, a reel, a story or a profile photo. Nothing is captured or uploaded in the background. Media you publish is stored by our storage provider and shown according to the audience you selected.
Some features are powered by AI services run by other companies. They are optional — the rest of VoyJoy works without them — and before the first time any of them sends anything, the app explains what is sent and to whom, and asks for your permission. This is what each one sends, and where:
Apart from a booking email you forward yourself, these requests do not include your name, email address or username.
Anthropic and OpenAI process this data only to provide the feature to us, under their commercial API terms, which require them to keep it secure and confidential and prohibit them from using it to train their models. They may keep it for a short period to monitor for abuse, and then delete it.
Google processes what is sent to Gemini under the Gemini API terms for the service we use. Those terms require Google to keep it secure, but also allow Google to use it to provide, improve and develop its products and machine-learning technology, and people at Google may review it for that purpose. This is why we never include your name, email address or username in these requests, and why you should not type personal or sensitive details into a planner request or an Ask AI question.
We do not use your content to train AI models ourselves.
You can turn the AI features off at any time in Profile → AI features. Nothing more is sent from then on, and the app asks again before you next use one.
When someone else uses an AI feature, content you have posted can be part of what is sent: your post if they use Ask AI about it, your comment if they translate it, and excerpts of public comments as local tips for the planner. Only the content is sent — never your name, username or email address. The planner and Ask AI only ever use public posts from public accounts; content you shared with a narrower audience can still be sent by someone in that audience who uses Translate on it.
To keep VoyJoy free of harmful content, the text of posts, stories, comments, trip chat and direct messages you send — and, for a post or story, a link to its first photo or video frame — is checked automatically by OpenAI's moderation service before it is published or delivered. The app tells you this before the first time it happens. Only the content is sent, not your name or email address. OpenAI processes it only to perform this check, and does not use it to train its models.
Moderation is not optional, because it protects the people who would otherwise receive harmful content. If you do not want your content checked, do not post or send it.
Card payments are handled by Stripe, and subscriptions bought inside the iOS app are handled by Apple. Your full card number never reaches VoyJoy. We keep a record of what was bought, when, and the amount, so we can show your bookings and invoices and support the guides who are paid.
Guide verification documents are passed to Stripe, which performs the identity checks required of payment providers by law.
We use service providers who process data only on our instructions:
Your profile and posts are visible according to the audience you choose: public, followers, or close friends. A private account limits your posts to approved followers. Trips and hangouts are visible to the people you invite. Guides see the booking details they need to run your experience.
We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. This is exactly what that does:
Records we are legally required to keep — principally booking and payment records needed for tax and accounting — are retained for as long as the law requires, and are not used for anything else.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Deleting your account does most of this immediately. For anything else, write to [email protected] and we will respond.
VoyJoy is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and access is restricted to what our systems and staff need. Our providers operate in several countries, so your data may be processed outside the country you live in.
We will update this policy when the app changes, and the date at the top will tell you when. Questions, requests or complaints: [email protected].
